How to compare two texts
- Paste the original version into the first box and the new version into the second.
- Read the differences below. Removed text is struck through in red, and added text is highlighted in green.
- Copy the results if you want to share or keep them.
Line by line or word by word?
Line by line suits code, lists, data and documents where each line stands on its own. Changed lines show as one removed and one added, with line numbers from both versions. Word by word suits prose, such as contracts, essays and articles, where a small wording change inside a long paragraph would otherwise mark the whole paragraph as changed.
Ignoring small differences
Turn on Ignore extra spaces to skip differences in spacing and indentation, and Ignore uppercase and lowercase to treat Hello and hello as the same. The original text is still shown as written.
Common uses
