Why emoji are hard to remove properly

Many emoji aren't one character. A thumbs up with a skin tone is two characters. A flag is two letter-like symbols that combine. A family emoji can be five or more characters joined by invisible connectors. Simple find-and-replace often removes part of an emoji and leaves odd boxes or invisible characters behind. This tool removes each emoji as one complete unit, including the invisible joiners.

Keeping copyright and trademark signs

Technically, © ® and ™ can display as emoji too. Most people want them kept in legal text and product names, so they're kept by default. Turn the option off to remove them as well.
